What is WhatsApp Business API?

The WhatsApp Business API (Cloud API) is Meta's official interface that lets companies send and receive WhatsApp messages programmatically — powering team inboxes, chatbots and broadcast campaigns.

Unlike the free WhatsApp Business app, the API has no phone app: it's designed to be used through a platform like WA Pixel. It supports multiple agents on one number, template broadcasts, automation and webhooks. Access is granted through Meta with a verified business.
